How to calm down the nervous system for a performance?

First of all, where do I find stability for my voice? - in the environment?

Secondly, how do I find it? - through the language of my neuroception, which is through the senses?

You just practice that it would change how your body breathes in the world.

We’re not working with the voice and trying to fix it or solve it. We’re trying to create the conditions where it can actually open and be powerful and be vulnerable if it needs to be, and have all those colours and nuances and textures available to it.

It is the most intimate part of the self.

So if you think of intimacy and you think of moments where you feel very at ease and really yourself, those environments that you’re in, they’re secure.

And we’re asking the same of that in our voice when we want to speak up and speak out.

So what happens when you’re in a complicated environment is the more you practice the skill, the more complexity so if it’s a very challenging environment, you’ve already built the foundations of this resiliency or these initial conditions. So you can take on more and more and more.
